Wood Fibre :
wall systems, render systems & Insulation

Wood is a natural and sustainable product that stores carbon - and our wood fibre insulation is manufactured from sustainable timber forests. As timber is diffusion-open, wood fibre insulation can work well on both the inside and the outside of a wall. Internally, it helps to regulate interior relative humidity, by absorbing and releasing moisture. In a Passivhaus construction, it can be used to create services cavities on the inside of the wall, but it is also perfectly placed towards the outside of the wall, as it allows moisture (e.g. condensation), that would otherwise be trapped in the wall, to travel out. So it’s a great solution for many applications in sustainable construction.

There are special boards for flooring, walling, roofing etc, and of course the best one is our composite render system : best wood SCHNEIDER® External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS) can be used on timber frame construction, on solid wood and on mineral substrates. It can even come part-prefinished. (These clever systems are also sometimes known as EIFS (External Insulation Facade System).

Sustainability is paramount at our German partner best wood SCHNEIDER®. All of their products are sustainably manufactured in Germany, and originate from resources that have been used in an environmentally responsible way. best wood SCHNEIDER® products are PEFC certified and have the ‘natureplus’ seal of quality.

Windows : Wood, concealed frames & composite aluminium

Let us know if you would like to have a look at some of our timber windows and doors. They are among the best you can find. They come pre-finished, so no extra labour for finishing on site is required. They are super airtight, and total window U-values can be as low as 0.7, making them suitable for any sustainable building, incl passive house construction.

These internationally tested OPTIWIN window and door systems offer contemporary, timeless and classic designs that can be made to suit your individual requirements and preferences. They are available in various attractive wood species and finishes. They can be stained or painted, or even left raw to grey off over time (subject to the correct species being selected).

There are also options for aluminium composite frames, so you can create a welcoming warm timber finish to your colour of choice on the inside, with low maintenance and a beautiful sharp look on the outside.

Or would you prefer concealed frames, for that ultra-modern minimalist appearance ? No problems, just let us know : We deliver the performance, you decide on the looks!

Download our windows brochure below for more information, and please don’t hesitate to ask any project-specific questions. You can also make an appointment to look at our sample range.

CLT : MASS TIMBER CONSTRUCTION

Again, a pure wood product : Cross-laminated timber panels are structural construction elements used as wall, ceiling and roof panels in solid timber construction projects. The NCC now allows even for apartment buildings to be done in CLT - and where replacing concrete and steel, CLT is not only a much more sustainable alternative, but can also be a lot more cost efficient. Thanks to the cross-wise structure of the longitudinal and cross-slats, wood expansion and shrinkage in the panel plane is reduced to an insignificant minimum. At the same time, this raises the structural load capacity and dimensional stability in the panel plane.

These panels are made by our Austrian partner KLH from spruce slats bonded on top of each other with high press force, and formaldehyde-free adhesives, to form large-format building elements. It’s a pretty impressive process when you look at the factory, and it’s a great sustainable construction material.
